CHANGES TO THE MERAFE RESOURCES EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT
In terms of section 3.59 of the JSE Limited Listings Requirements, notification
is hereby given that Steve Phiri will be stepping down as the Chief Executive
Officer of Merafe Resources with effect from 31 March 2010 but will continue as
a non-executive director of the Company. Steve will become the first Chief
Executive Officer of the Royal Bafokeng controlled platinum company which has as
its main assets the currently operating Bafokeng Rasimone Platinum Mine and the
adjacent Styldrift project, which he joins with effect from 1 April 2010.
Stuart Elliot, the Company`s current Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will become
the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with effect from 1 April 2010. Stuart has
been with the Company for over nine years and involved in all aspects of the
business. "Together with his experience and the experience of the established
executive and management team at Merafe Resources, we envisage a smooth
transition and see the Company going from strength to strength. We wish Stuart
every success in his new role", said Chris Molefe, Chairman of Merafe Resources.
Discussions are at an advanced stage on the appointment of a new CFO and it is
anticipated that the appointment of the new CFO will be announced prior to 31
March 2010, being the last day of office of the current CEO.
The Company`s board of directors (the Board) would like to thank Steve for his
contribution to the Company as CEO and wish him well in his new role within the
Royal Bafokeng group. The Board looks forward to his continued positive
contribution as a non-executive director.
